Happy Lucky Charms Day

Kamryn has been looking forward to "Lucky Charms Day" since Valentines day. She thinks this day is associated with the cereal and there for is named as such.

Kelsey made this cute sign and hung on her door just in case a leprechaun happened to stop by.Conner is making a leprechaun trap which for him is a good thing. At dinner I was telling the children who didn't get their bedroom chores done before school of my disappointment when Conner replied that it wasn't his fault beacuse"I think a leprechaun went into my room while I was at school a messed it up." He better catch that little guy so the leprechaun can receive his punishment.

Who Knew??

Marc was up for lesson for our Family Home Evening. He was giving a wonderful lesson on the Priesthood where he dressed in his Sunday Clothes and asked the kids questions. One of the first questions asked was if they knew anyone who held the priesthood. Five hands went up and I sat on the couch smiling thinking we were doing a great job if they all knew someone. He chose Kamryn and she replied, "George Washington". Who Knew??? We are having another lesson on the Priesthood really soon.

The Tooth Fairy Needs a Loan

The tooth fairy that visits our home may need to take out a small loan. . .

It seems my kids begin to get their bottom permanent teeth before their baby teeth fall out. McKenna started when she was 5 and we took her to the dentist and he promptly took them out saying they would make the permanent teeth not straight. Trying to avoid the orthodontist at all cost pulling them was the least we could do. Conner too started a few months ago and we wiggled those two bottom teeth until they fell out. Leading up to Kelsey who has been bummed since Conner lost 2 and she still hadn't lost any. I took a quick look in her month and I thought her mouth looked like a shark!! She too had two layers of teeth but her baby teeth were wedged in and we weren't getting them out. We were off to the dentist where he pulled those teeth. She loved it!! She was so proud to walk out of the office holding her two little teeth. This happened on Thursday and the tooth fairy came that night.

Friday McKenna felt a molar she thought was a little funny so riding in the car she politely asked for a tissue and I handed it back and noticed she had blood dripping down her mouth. She just decided to pull the tooth out of her head. Around here the tooth fairy leaves double for molars.

Saturday rolled around and Marc and I attended the temple and upon returning to the car I got the message that McKenna pulled another molar.

Where her teeth even loose. . .or does she just want money??

Silly Kids

What happens when one of my children steals my camera. . .

Kettle Corn

Have you noticed the smell when you go to the zoo (no I don't mean from the animals) but right when you walk in you smell the kettle corn or when you go to Cornbellys you walk by the stand and see the man stirring the big kettle-with a huge mask to protect his eyes-making kettle corn. Well I love it! I looked around for a recipe and low and behold I found this yummy recipe for kettle corn and it is so good!! I tired making if for the first time and burnt the entire batch but was not going to let it beat me so I tried again and succeeded. It is slightly sweet with just a hint of salty. If you ever need a little snack of both flavors try kettle corn.

What a Day

I was able to go to lunch with a friend yesterday and do a little research with her. This research is nothing like what I remember because it was chocolate research. She had a list of some great bakery shops in Provo/Orem area and we went around finding the best. Does it get any better? I might have gained a few pounds but it was so worth it. So if anyone wants to know where to get the best cupcakes I can let you know because we did the research.

Then the games began when I walked in the door. I knew I was taking dinner into some friends so I prepared by putting something in the crock pot and already cooking the dessert before I left for lunch. So I felt well prepared. I started on homework when McKenna yelled that Coco had messed in the front room and bless her because she volunteer to get it cleaned up. I started the dessert for Enrichment Meeting, ran Kylie to gymnastics came home and was informed of a poop mess which was not from the dog but a child in another room. I started scrubbing the carpet when I noticed the smell of burning. I finished the carpet job and got cleaned up came into the kitchen where there was smoke and the awful smell of food burning. I opened the oven and realized the dessert I was cooking was put in a "too small" pan and was spilling all over the oven. I shrugged my shoulders and ran McKenna to art while the three little kids parked themselves around the open windows to breathe in the fresh air. They then ran to the neighbors to escape from the yucky smoke and smell. I finished dinner for our friends and ran it over to them and came home decided it was a perfect time to auto clean the oven. This also meant I had no dinner for my own family (I can only make one dinner at a time). Seeing as how I was still full from all my "research" I made something simple on the stove top. I then took my dessert that boiled over in the oven and popped it into the microwave to finish cooking and off to Enrichment I went. What a day. . .

Tom Sawyer

Last week was the much anticipated 6th grade play-Tom Sawyer. McKenna was the mother of one of the Tom's friends and for the life of me I can't remember her name. She did such a great job and invested 3 days a week going to practices and it payed off in the end. I helped direct and then did the make up for the cast so I too attended the practices after school. It was fun to spend this time with McKenna and get to know her friends better. She has such a great group of kids in her class that I hope they follow her into the Jr. High.

Kamryn was a real trooper these last few months coming with me to the practices and last week we were at the school for 4 hours a day. The day before the play there was a final dress rehearsal which was recorded by a professional for the parents to purchase and not have to worry about recording the night of the performance. This meant that Kamryn was not able to walk around like she was used to and she needed to stay close beside me. Knowing this was going to be the case I told her to pack a bag. Her older siblings offered their Zunes for her to take so she could watch a show and she decided on Conner's because she could watch Bolt. She placed it in her bag with a few books and crayons. I grabbed some fruit snacks and off we went. Half way during the recording she decided to get into her bag and noticed that she had left the Zune on and the battery was dead. I realized that I forgot the fruit snacks at home on the counter and didn't even put them in her bag. After 4 hours the rehearsal was over and they brought in pizza for the 6th grade. Kamryn got my keys for the car out of my bag and started grabbing my leg to go. I started helping pass out the pizza and cookies when I realized I hadn't see Kami in a while and went around asking if anyone had seen her. No one had and some 6th graders started looking while I went backstage and she wasn't anywhere then I remembered her taking my keys. . .I ran to the door knowing that once you go out those doors they lock. Sure enough she was there with these big alligator tears, having just peed her pants, wearing no coat in freezing weather and the steam coming off the sidewalk. I finally got it. . .it was time to go home.
