Who Knew?

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16).

Conner gave a lovely lesson on Christ's birth for family home evening this week and as he was going into depth about certain aspects he proceeded to tell us all that when the wise men came they brought-gold, perfume and peaches.

Who knew . . .

Back to Routine

We are finally back to a manageable routine in the Rice household. It was a little of just keeping our head above water the last few weeks with school starting, PTA starting up, 4 piano lessons, art lessons and the gazillion soccer games and practices we attended in the last few months. We only have 3 more games left and only one player.

When I sent my last little one off to kindergarten I actually thought I would have a little free time-what was I thinking? At least now we are finally breathing and I am catching up on a few blog posts I have lacked. We had such a fun filled summer with our family coming to visit. We went to the Grand Canyon, Zions, Temple Square, Ogden, Fishing, swimming, the Little Mermaid, horseback riding, a couple baptisms and playing with cousins. The next several posts show pictures of our adventures with little words. What a fun summer filled with wonderful memories.

Our well loved hamster Nilla even gets a few dress ups on. No one in this household is immune to dressing up-even the pets.
I believe in child labor here in this household-Kami's chore was to clean the blinds and when she found me and told me she couldn't reach I told her to get her little white stool. When I came back into the room I realized it might not have been the safest place to put the stool but WOW do my blinds look clean!

Fishing and The Oaks

We headed to Ogden ate lunch at The Oaks and spent the day with GG-we looked and looked for Moose but were unable to see any but we noticed a few fish in the stream behind our table. After lunch we went fishing and walked away with 18 fish the we did cook up for dinner.
Kelsey was getting some tips from this boy-if you can't get them with the rod get them with your hands. She soon realized that wasn't for her and stuck with the rod and was successful on her own.

Las Vegas, St. George and Kanab

Horseback riding, M&M factory and The Little Mermaid are all makings of a perfect vacation spot.
Kami and Paige both taking a ride around the block.
Katie, Madison, Spencer, Joshua and Conner are all patiently waiting for their turn to ride.
Loved, loved, loved the Little Mermaid at Tuacahn. The show was over 2 hours and the kids did such a great job paying attention. All our family from Pennsylvania were servery sleep deprived but hung in there for the show.

Crazy Cousins-what fun we had!!

Zions National Park

We went to Zions National Park on a perfect clear day. There was hardly any clouds in the sky and the sun was shining. We drove through the Park stopping at look out points. We then boarded a bu

Not everyone was excited about our hike up to the waterfall. Kelsey was hot and tired and she wanted us all to realize she was not going to have a fun time.

The Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon was beautiful and hot at the same time. We met up with my sister and her family as well as my parents and we experienced the Canyon. We went on a hike and the kids loved testing their limits. I tried to explain to my kids it was harder to see how far we could get away from the edge than how close we could get to falling off. Michelle definitely had more anxiety in this area. We had a wonderful day and even saw some buffalo on the way out.

We headed to the Zoo on a hot summer day and enjoyed all the animals as well as the ones at the zoo. We then stopped at the park and let the kids play in the water and cool off.

Hoover Dam

We started out our summer vacation with a trip to Hoover Dam. It was so blasted hot that the moment we got out of the car the kids were wishing to hop back in-ok not just the kids I was as well. Luckily Marc was there to document a few pictures because it was a short look and long walk and were back on the road. After all it is just a big hole.

Twins Photo Shoot

Conner and Kelsey had an important birthday this summer where they turned 8 and were baptized in August. Marc took them to the temple and took some fun pictures of them. Not all the poses Marc had in mind worked. For example, a few of the pictures made it look like they were getting married in their white dress and dark suit standing in front of the temple. Others they just wanted to be silly and play but I like the ones that just didn't turn out perfect because it shows their personality.
