Kindergarten Homework

I know the twins are only in Kindergarten but their homework is proving to be trying this week. Each week a student brings home the sound box with a letter and they must fill the box with items that begin with that letter. One of those items is a treat for the class. I know the teacher could have made this a little easier on me and only sent one sound box home this week and another next week but she didn't and I have both of them this week. Now I know many of you have had kindergartners and have already completed this homework so I am asking for your help. Please help me with some suggestions.

*Kelsey has the "V" and her box looks pretty sad. If we don't get some help she might have to take a yam for "v"egetable as a treat and no one wants yams :)

A little hair...

I admit I might be on a little of a hair kick considering McKenna cut hers off but I saw a cute style and tried to copy it on Kelsey. Luckily she was a great sport and even loved having it done. I just kept telling her this was how the princesses got their hair done and it worked like a charm. All of my girls have been great about sitting still while I did their hair, since they had enough hair to let me play with. I have been pretty lucky that way.

Kamryn came into the kitchen this afternoon dressed like this wanting to know if she could go outside and play. I about fell over laughing. Mind you it is close to 90 degrees today but she needed her snow boots on and I guess she wanted to do a little dancing while out side so she also needed her dance outfit on. I keep my cell phone stashed away in my bra and she got her play phone and stashed hers away as well. Too cute!!

Another 13 inches

We are no stranger to Locks of Love...McKenna has donated for her third time this weekend. Her hair grows so fast and has donated 39 inches in her 10 years of life. I am grateful for her desire to donate to such a worthy case again and again even when I, her mother, would rather she keep her hair long she would rather grow it long and cut it short for the max amount of inches. She tells me it is only hair and will grow back (who is the mother?? I do wander at times) and every time it does. Great job McKenna I am so proud of you!!

Our "Stay"cation

We spent the past weekend up in Salt Lake enjoying our "stay"cation that has been moved and changed so many times I am really surprised it went through. I picked the kids up on Friday from school and we made the long drive. The kids had so much fun at the hotel. We went swimming and out to dinner and then we all crammed into our little room and bonded. Saturday we went to This Is the Place park and it reminded Marc and I of a little version of Nauvoo. The kids enjoyed attending the Barber... The hat shop... Of course the had I would have wanted to buy was the one that would have been $700 in today's money. We pulled wagons...And rode trains and ponies... Enjoyed the petting zoo...

We washed clothes with a wash board and hung them on the clothes line. Kylie thought it was so much fun and wants to now wash all our clothes that way. I would just like her to make her clothes land in the hamper...

We felt what it would be like to walk on the moon and the kids learned a little about gravity. The Clark Planetarium has some interesting exhibits that were hands on the kids just loved.

Then we went and walked on the moon...

We spent our final day at Temple Square and got a great tour of the Conference Center. We were able to go on the roof and get down close to the stage and see where all the General Authorities would sit during Conference next month. We went to the Church History Museum and they have a wonderful exhibit going on until the end of September "I Am a Child of God" Everything was hands on and the kids loved playing there. We finally had to tear them away when Marc and I were falling asleep due to the long weekend. Our 'stay'cation was a success and we see more in our future. Thanks so much Jaime we had a great time!!

Luau

We had a very wet and cold Labor Day here in Utah. We spent it having a fun day. Marc took the kids (along with one of his friends and their kids) to the Kangaroo Zoo and to McDonald's for lunch. In our family we rarely go do fast food mostly because I can't stand it so our kids were elated to go to McDonald's and only slightly impressed with Kangaroo Zoo.

We headed up to Thanksgiving Point were we attended their annual luau with a dinner and Polynesian dancers they even had fire dancers. The weather was really COLD once the sun went down especially for the first day of September. We had some friends who kids were among the dancers and they were so cute and fun to watch. Kylie, Conner and Kelsey even learned a little luau dancing. We shivered during the performance and ended up leaving a little early because of the 50 degree weather. My kids teeth were chattering but we had a great fun day.

Caterpillars and Waterfalls

Last month the Young Women took a hike up the Battle Creek canyon to a couple waterfalls. I wanted to take our family on the hike since they did such a great job on the Timpanogos hike. We started the dusty trail in the late afternoon and along the way we meet several caterpillars. My girls loved watching them and naming them as we walked up the mountain. At one particular stop we were watching a caterpillar and Conner was a little annoyed at us constantly stopping and playing with the bugs that we came over and stepped right on the caterpillar Kelsey was talking to. He really broke her little heart he did apologize when her realized these little bugs meant so much to her. She even loves the potato bugs she finds outside our house. The first day of kindergarten...

We celebrated Kami's birthday and she still thinks her birthday is coming up. Here are a few pictures of all the fun.
She didn't want to blow out the candles but rather watch the fire.

Her favorite present was a pair of socks McKenna gave her.

She received a new movie from Grandpa and Grandma Rice which Marc put on outside for them to watch.
